This is the 1990 unique official demo of Chapel of Ghouls (France). Formed in 1988, and originally a duet composed of Thörgammaton Blackvomit (who later became Vordb) and Vörtex (later A.D.), it was soon completed by a session drummer, Isa, allowing the recording of 'Prayers in Nothingness' (originally mispelled 'Prays in Nothingness'). They played a mix of thrash and death metal with a touch of heavy metal, and influences from Morbid Angel (quite obvious considering the band's name), Poison (Germany), Sarcofago, Sepultura, Kreator, Destruction, Mercyful Fate, Coroner, and even Voïvod!
Although the band remained in the shadows of the once Underground, this demo is an interesting testimony of what the French thrash/death metal of the late 1980s could be!
